Evaluating bond strength of acrylic teeth to conventional and high impact denture base resin incorporating various groove designs

Purpose: In spite of chemical union between acrylic resin teeth and denture base material, detachment particularly anterior is a frequent observation. The purpose this study was to evaluate shear bond strength after incorporating various grooves on the ridge lap area. Materials & Methods: A total 60 samples were prepared divided into two groups with 30 each. Sample in group I processed conventional whereas II high impact resin. each subjected no treatment, vertical groove Horizontal retentive goove placement unmodified served as control. force applied at an angle 130 degrees lingual surface using instron universal testing machine until fracture occurred. Data obtained statistically analysed Post hoc Mann-Whitney Test. Results: Unmodified showed least strength. Modification horizontal significantly improves greater required from groove.
